Monica da Silva and Chad Alger are a Brazilian American duo. Their music incorporates Bossa Nova, and International influences, to form their self-coined Indie Nova genre. Accompanied by Alger on guitar, da Silva sings in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French. She also adds accents of flute and melodica throughout their arrangements. Da Silva’s song ‘Soldado de Amor’ was nominated for a 2018 International Brazilian Press Award, and was featured in the Paramount Network series ‘American Woman’. Her songs are also featured in the Golden Globe Award winning movie ‘Lady Bird’, on the Putumayo World Music compilation ‘Brazilian Beat’, in The 2014 World Cup, in the BBC One series ‘The Replacement’, and will soon be featured in the 2019 Netflix summer movie ‘The Last Summer’.
