For National artists

The City of Dublin invites qualified professional artists, or high school student artists working under the supervision of an art teacher or art professional, to submit designs for painted utility boxes, beginning January 30, 2020 through March 18, 2020.

Following positive public response to painted utility boxes Dublin has added around town, the Dublin City Council has approved funding for ten more utility boxes to be painted in Summer 2020. All the approved utility boxes are City-owned traffic signal boxes. Winning artists will be paid a $1,000 stipend per utility box painted.

Designs must, in some way, include or reflect the City’s diversity, historic heritage, or key activity through Dublin.” The Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission will review and recommend designs to City Council. City Council is expected to award contracts to artists in May 2020, with all ten utility boxes to be painted by September 30, 2020.

Applications are available online at Dublin.ca.gov/utilityboxart. All proposals must be received by Recreation Coordinator Tyler Phillips by Wednesday, March 18, 2020, 5:00 p.m.
