I’m Ohio born, had a short sojourn in L.A. then moved to another La., Louisiana, and back to California, only north this time to Napa. Weaving began with the purchase of a spinning wheel-what to do with the yarn? My focus has been rugs, wallhangings, and tapestry and I love to spend time weaving patterned utilitarian towels and colorful scarves. My new adventure is weaving tapestry pendants and cuff bracelets. I’m primarily self taught but have taken many workshops and classes as well as having a library of books on color, design, and weaving techniques. One of my favorite tapestry techniques is wedge weave that enables me to create dimensional pieces. I use a shaft-switching technique on my 45″ loom for my flat floor and wall rugs because I can be almost as free with shapes and color blending as with tapestry. Color and texture are catalysts for me as I continue in the “what if” school of education. I have exhibited in local, national and international competitions.
