Leonore Wilson has lived in Napa Valley for sixty years on her old wild ranch in the eastern hills where she protects the fauna and flora. Her 1200 acre ranch has been in the family since 1919. Leonore attended local schools, including J.Siena. She has a B.A. in English/Creative Writing and an M.A. English/Creative Writing/Teaching from UC Davis. She has taught in the valley for over twenty years through Napa Valley College, establishing writing groups in Napa, Yountville, St Helena and Calistoga. She established the first creative writing workshop at the Vets Home in Yountville. Leonore is widely published in literary magazines such as Quarterly West, Iowa Review, Laurel Review, Upstreet, etc. She has won fellowships to Villa Montalvo Center of the Arts and University of Utah for her writing. Her poetry books are Western Solstice and Tremendum, Augustum both published through established presses She has also written a history book of the Southwest that is used in the schools. Her feminist essays have been published in such places as Trivia: Voices of Feminism. She is the mother of three sons in their 30s. One teaches physics at the Univ. of Ariz, another is a photojournalist, and her youngest works for a sustainable water company that serves farms and agriculture. Her husband is a retired chemist from Anheuser Busch. Leonore is the former poet laureate of Napa Vly. She teaches life writing in Yountville. She is a fierce environmentalist.
