Cellist Eric Moore started cello at th.e age of 10 and won his first professional orchestral audition at 15. He studied with Richard Aaron and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan as a triple major: BM Cello Performance, BM Music Theory, BM Music History. After graduating, he played with 10 orchestras in Michigan (as principal cellist for three). Upon moving to San Diego in 2010 he was appointed principal cellist of the Lo Jolla Symphony & Chorus and collaborated frequently with UCSD faculty.

Eric specializes in performing new classical music. He has premiered dozens of works and collaborated with many leading composers. He recorded Lei Liang ‘s Verge for the Naxos label and Katharina Rosenberger’s music with the Wet Ink Ensemble (NY Times 2018’s Best Classical Ensemble) on TEXTUREN, which won the German Record Critics’ Album of the Year.

He is, himself, on active composer: he wrote and recorded the filmscore for Everyday People, which was nominated for Documentary of the Year at the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival. His four cello duets, co-written with Martin Torch-Ishii, were recorded on the album Metamorphosis and have been performed across the world.

Eric is the executive director for New Music Decanted (newmusicdecanted.org), a Napa-based ensemble that performs new music and features an informational podcast and blog.

He teaches ~20 cello (and composition) students privately in Napa and is Adjunct at Pacific Union College.
