The themes of my sculpture and public art include wilderness, human presence, passage of time, and sense of place. I have taught ceramics and visual arts in universities, community colleges, public schools, centers for developmentally disabled adults, and prisons. I received numerous Artist-in-Residence grants through the California Arts Council and the New Mexico Arts Division, and have worked with The California Arts Project as an artist-educator. Art in Public Places in New Mexico and California feature a number of my works, including many ceramic murals. My sculptures have been selected as part of the US Department of State Art in Embassies Program and exhibited in the US Embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus. I hold a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology, an MFA from the University of New Mexico, and am a professor emeritus of Ceramics and Sculpture at Sierra College, Nevada County Campus. Currently, I work as the Site Coordinator for the William James Association’s Arts in Corrections program at California Medical Facility in Vacaville, CA where I teach Visual Arts. I live and have my studio in Napa County where I produce my public art, pottery and sculptures.
