As an artist I would describe myself as interested and employ a method of oil painting in the manner of the revered Old Masters. The technique includes an academic approach to composition, a precise tonal underpainting and a layering of oil paint mixed with oil medium called glazing. In this process there is a genuine unfolding of form and atmosphere. The painting becomes three-dimensional as treasures of exquisite color, light, and luminosity present themselves.
Raised by artist parents, I am a fifth generation Northern Californian who has lived, studied, hiked and observed art all over the world. Studied art history and painting at UC Santa Barbara, the University of Stockholm Sweden, the Art Students League In NYC, and Silvermine Guild of Art in New Canaan CT. Had been a member of Brush and Palette, a portrait and figure painting group in New Haven, CT and a member of a six artist co-op, the Elm City Artist Gallery, located on the campus of Yale University, before recently moving back home to California after 40 years. Currently I actively volunteer with the Art Association of Napa Valley and exhibit my paintings at the Artists Gallery of Napa Valley.
