I am a designer and facilitator – something closer to a social practice artist — rather than a an artist working in a particular medium. In my work, community members are the artists and their voices are the ones that matter. My projects are greatly influenced by my background in creating positive health impact by designing meaningful services, products, and experiences for people. Professionally, I practice Human-Centered Design in a boutique consultancy, Future Medical Systems. Our process begins with listening deeply, synthesizing insight, generating solutions, and then bringing ideas to life. While I often work with executives at large healthcare organizations or public health departments to envision strategies and services for the future, my vision as an artist is to bring this proven practice into the heart of my own community. I have seen again and again that healthy communities begin with diverse voices being heard, feeling welcome, and connecting in a physical environment. The impact of listening and being heard spreads.
