A presentation by SF Conservatory of Music alumnus and competition winner Jon Mendle, featuring performances on circa 1840 French guitar, modern classical guitar, and Renaissance lute.
Jon Mendle, guitar instructor at Pacific Union College, presents a recital featuring performances on circa 1840 French guitar, modern classical guitar, and Renaissance lute. Making his Carnegie Hall debut at age 19, Mendle rapidly built a career as a performer, teacher, arranger, and composer. He has gone on tour with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, and released his first album, L’Infidele, to critical acclaim. Mendle earned his M.Mus from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and won the Conservatory’s biennial Guitar Concerto Competition. Mendle has also studied the classical music of North India with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, and privately with sarod player Steve Oda.
