Napa Center for Thought & Culture presents one screening on Sun., Feb. 9, 3:00pm at CIA at Copia. “Fiddler” details the origin story behind one of Broadway’s most beloved musicals, “Fiddler on the Roof.”
For the first time, intimate interviews with the show’s creators reveal how the tremendous sucess and worldwide impact of “Fiddler on the Roof” — and its subsequent film adaption is most appropriately viewed through the lens of social upheaval and change in mid-20th century America. The musical found its creative roots in the early 1960s New York – when “tradition” was on the wane as gender roles, sexuality, race relations and religion were evolving.
Live music by two members of the Jubilee Klezmer Ensemble will be performed pre- and post-screening. After the film, a discussion, “In Perspective,” will be led by Jennifer King, Theater Maker and Professor of Theater Arts at Napa Valley College.
An optional Russian-themed dinner created by CIA chefs will be an available for an additional fee.
Tickets are $20 – $30 (VIP reserved seating) and can be purchased through Eventbrite.com
