The Artists’ Trellis project began from what Nancy Willis sees as an existential crisis for artists like herself, who live and work in Napa Valley.  Affordable studio space, dedicated exhibition venues, meeting places and connecting to viewers are critical to artist practices. So is having a seat at the table where civic planning and policy are being determined. After years as a long time advocate for the arts, she decided to create her own table. Willis invited artists and local leaders to come to her studio and make monotypes together. The six sessions that spanned one year, were small and intimate and filled with fruitful conversations and the bond of art-making.

Willis invites you to view this beautiful array of thirty prints that collectively create a portrait of our community. In this fractured world, she wants to remind others that art can be a bridge to connect us.

THE EXHIBITION;

Each participant was asked to choose from two motifs for their inspiration: Napa Valley botanicals & foliage or native wildlife. The exhibition is a curated selection of monotypes from each of the six sessions.
