The Ground Upon Which We Stand – An NCWCA Juried Exhibition
Abrams Claghorn Gallery – April 2-30, 2020

Submission dates and details can be found on our website, https://www.ncwca.org/news.html.

The Ground Upon Which We Stand is a juried exhibition and regional show for NCWCA members and women* artists residing in the greater Bay Area focusing on the environment.

The Ground Upon Which We Stand references the sacredness of the land and standing your ground in times of global upheaval and climate change. This art exhibition will also coincide with Earth Day, April 22, 2020. What is your relationship to nature, the environment, and our planet? Are you worried, hopeful, activated or taking action? Do you oppose technology-industry-capitalism-globalization? Alternatively, do you believe that technology and globalization are compatible with environmental integrity? Are you advocating for a simpler way of life, a return to ancestral lifeways, or for a technological future that imagines the end of pollution, over-crowding and the extinction of species? Echoing Greta Thunberg’s call to action, does your artwork make a point that there is no plan B or planet B? We are looking for artwork that engages on many levels – aesthetically, environmentally, socially, personally – allowing for a range of expression and points of view. What is your message for our Planet? We want to know.

In addition to the exhibition and opening reception, we are hosting an exciting performance event, Call and Response, where special guests working in music, poetry, tech, and science respond to exhibited works.

Submission dates and details can be found on our website, https://www.ncwca.org/news.html.
