Production Design Specialist

Our Papyrus division is looking for a Production Design Specialist. This role is an entry to mid-level position requiring current knowledge in the Graphic Design field. Position is responsible for the art directed development of all Papyrus products, from printed to embellished cards, stationery, bags, gift items and more, through final vendor file preparation and delivery, using a wide variety of techniques, styles, and subject matter. Specialist uses production skills to create digital files in accordance with American Greetings file prep methods, as well as color correction and color proofing for all Papyrus products. Production Design Specialist accepts direction and retains wide-ranging information well.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Layout and produce cards, stationery, gift items:
• Work closely with Art Directors to produce digital files for Papyrus products; focused on volume of output and high productivity levels
• Follows concept instructions, executes and refines art with direction provided
• Develops product art files per specific AG file prep standards and practices
• Responsible for color correction and Epson proofing of products, as needed
• Accurately proof artwork for file prep standards and production requirements
• Discuss and solve production problems with Manager of Production, Creative Director, Art Directors, other Production Design Specialists
• Consistently tracks progress and manages projects with timely efficiency
2. Upkeep of files database:
• Keep accurate historical files of layouts and art files of all past and current designs
3. Meetings and Communication:
• Meets regularly with Production Department, Supervisor, and Art Department to determine best practices and develop product
• Meets with Supervisor to determine priorities
• Frequent written and verbal communication, able to re-prioritize throughout day as needed
4. Research:
• Gather information about new procedures and methods to improve the current process of graphics production, works with the Supervisor of Production to develop best practices
• Keeps current in all programs and tools required to perform job function, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)
