The Smart Fellers are a Northern California swing band that has the distinction being of one of very few bands to have had their first show in an elevator. They’ve played the Napa Town and Country Fair, Napa Porchfest, Blue Note Napa and innumerable public and private shows. In May 2013 they were honored to be selected to play at the BottleRock music festival.
The core of the band consists of the two founding members: Mark Larson’s rhythmic guitar strumming and Alan K. Parks’ foundational sound on bass. Mark doubles on heartfelt vocals bringing the songs to life. Bonnie Otto, an expert in the art of stride piano, joined the band after a few gigs.
The sound is a combination of eclectic influences. Think Louis Jordan and Cab Calloway meet Bob Wills with sneaks of Pink Floyd and shades of lounge music. The band thrills in playing classic rock songs in a retro swing style, keeping audiences on their toes while the dance beat is swinging.
