Napa County Library Presents Virtual Art Talk - Last Supper in Pompeii, From the Table to the Grave

In AD 79, the fiery eruption of Mount Vesuvius buried the village of Pompeii completely under pumice and ash, and killed thousands of people in the midst of their daily activities. The art and artifacts preserved by archaeologists offer us a picture of a thriving Roman city during the 1st century, particularly their food and drink. Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco docent Marsha Holm will guide us through this uniquely preserved way of life, from magnificent homes and gardens, to lavish dinner parties and works of art.
